Mark D. Dore, a shareholder and employment lawyer at Mounce, Green, Myers, Safi, Paxson & Galatzan, P.C., spoke as a co-panelist on the topic “Retaliation and Whistleblower Claims: The Expanding Scope of Anti-Retaliation Provisions” at the American Conference Institute’s 25th National Forum on Employment Practices Liability Insurance in New York, NY on January 27, 2017. This conference brings together speakers with specific expertise in managing and defending against employment claims. The goal is to help claims professionals, underwriters, risk managers, and counsel stay current on the ever - changing insurance coverage options, ways to reduce costs of defending against employment claims, and how to minimize exposure to risk. Mr. Dore has been Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1989.
Mark D. Dore was the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the El Paso Paralegal Association on September 15, 2016. Mr. Dore spoke on the topic, "Social Media as a Litigation Discovery Tool: Trends, Benefits, and Pitfalls."

Andrés E. Almanzán participated as a Panel Speaker at the 23rd Anniversary of West Coast Casualty's Construction Defect Seminar at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California on May 13, 2016. Mr. Almanzán joined former Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Dale Wainwright and El Paso County Court at Law No. 6 Judge Sue Kurita in making a presentation on Texas Supreme Court case law updates in construction defect litigation and compliance with the Federal Administrative Procedures Act relating to securing discovery from non-party Federal Agencies in State Court lawsuits.
Darryl S. Vereen was elected to membership of the Texas Tech School of Law Foundation Board for 2016. The Foundation Board serves as trustees for the Texas Tech Law School Foundation, and works closely with the Dean in managing the Foundation to further the advancement of the Law School and promote academic scholarship. Mr. Vereen began serving his three-year term in 2016.
Merwan N. Bhatti will be a guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the El Paso Paralegal Association on June 16, 2016. Mr. Bhatti will be presenting on the topic of “Foreclosures- from Default to Litigation.” Mr. Bhatti practices in the areas of business law, real estate and commercial litigation.
Darryl S. Vereen shared the stage with other notable alumni and dignitaries while addressing the graduating classes of the Texas Tech University School of Law in May and December 2015, and again in May 2016. Mr. Vereen was asked by the Dean to make opening remarks in his capacity as President of the Texas Tech School of Law Alumni Association. Mr. Vereen shared the stage with the Dean, Chancellor of Texas Tech University System, General Counsel, Vice Chancellor and other guest speakers such as the Supreme Court of Texas Justice Donald Willett.

Darryl S. Vereen was elected to the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel (TADC), and began serving his term in 2016. The TADC is a well known, state-wide professional organization of civil trial attorneys, dedicated to promoting excellence in its members, fairness in our judicial system and reserving the right to jury trial for all citizens.
Darryl S. Vereen and S. Anthony Safi co-authored a legal article and visual presentation on "The State of the Second Amendment” for the Texas Tech University School of Law, El Paso Spring CLE Seminar on 3/18/16. The presentation focused on the origins, implications and current legal status of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution which secures the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. The presentation was given to a live audience of lawyers and judges from Texas and New Mexico.
Anthony Safi presented a paper on recent developments in procurement and purchasing laws at the University of Texas School of Law 31st Annual School Law Conference on February 26, 2016. Mr. Safi served as Chair of the Planning Committee and a Presiding Officer for the School Law Conference in 2013 and 2014, and served as Chair of the School Law Section of the Texas State Bar during 2012-13.
Darryl S. Vereen recently presented the 2016 Texas Apartment Association (TAA) Redbook Seminar to members of the El Paso Apartment Association, local managers and residential housing industry professionals. TAA speakers are requested/nominated by local associations and then vetted by the TAA. There are less than 10 speakers in the State of Texas who present the Redbook on behalf of the TAA. Mr. Vereen has over 20 years of experience with both residential and commercial landlord/tenant issues.
